UC Davis Medical Center
UC Davis is a medical center which can be found in the city of Sacramento, from the state of California.
This hospital has 613 beds and it is one of the largest of its kind in an area of 65,000 sq. miles, where 6 million people and 33 counties can be found. This center operates the only trauma center of level 1 from North California and the researchers and specialists which are found here focus on a total of 150 health care areas.
The UC Davis Center got an award in 2009, which is called Leapfrog Top Hospital and it was won based on its efficiency, safety and on the quality of the hospital.
This center of medicine is the main teaching hospital which is affiliated with the Davis Medicine School. The Nursing School, the Medical School, the hospital and the Davis Medical Group are united under the Davis Health System.
The trauma center
This medical center is considered a trauma center of level I and a pediatric trauma center of level I, according to the Surgeons American College. There are 112 trauma centers in the US, but only twenty of them are verified for pediatrics and adults at the same time.
This is the major trauma center of California and it is also one of the busiest in the nation, with double the number of patients that were needed to keep its level I status.
The Burn Center
The Burn Center of UC Davis works together with the Shriners Children Hospital, in order to make a treatment center for burn victims. In this deal, the UC Davis works with adult patients, while Shriners takes the kids. This burn program has around 600 admissions each year, and that makes it a top 5 burn center in the United States. They also have a number of specialists which develop and research new guidelines and treatments to recover and care for burns.
